Parole is a conditional release from prison.
Parole allows a person being released to serve the remainder of his/her term outside of prison, although the person will still be under the supervision of the department of corrections.
Conditions of parole can include but not limited to:
- Periodic meetings with parole officers (once a month, week, etc.)
- Not being able to leave state of residency until term of parole is completed
- Foregoing the possession of weapons
- Non-association with known criminals
