Filing the Complaint

Home » The Prosecutorial Process » Filing the Complaint

Filling out legal paperworkAfter the police officer requests a warrant from the prosecutor’s office, the officer must then swear out a warrant under oath with the district court judge in the jurisdiction where the alleged crime took place. The prosecuting attorney then files the documents with the court to show that charges are being filed against the defendant.
