Booking Procedures

After the suspect is taken to the arresting agencyalleged criminal being fingerprinted
standard booking procedures are as follows:

  1. Search of Suspect
  2. Mug shots
  3. Fingerprints
  4. Routine questions (name, address, etc.)

All felony Defendants will be taken to the arresting agency to be booked, but not all misdemeanor defendants are required to go through such booking procedures.

Prisoner Inquiries

Not all jails will give out booking information. When inquiring about a prisoner be prepared to answer the following:

  1. Inmate’s booking number
  2. Inmate’s full name and date of birth

Ask the jail for the following information:

  1. Arrest Date
  2. Bail
  3. Visiting Information
  4. Court Date
  5. Charges
  6. Booking number (if you do not already have it)
